January Highlight: Giving Up is Not an Option!

Name: Anitra Turner
Age: 42
Anitra completed the GED program through Adult Continuing Education of Central Virginia near the end of 2013 and obtained her GED credential.
She had dropped out of school during her ninth grade year to help raise her niece. She now feels inspired and empowered to know that she has finally accomplished what she had set out to achieve over twenty years ago.

Happy New Year!

Resolutions are usually made this time of the year. Whether your resolution is to get a high school equivalency credential (GED Credential), a job, brush up on work readiness and computer skills, improve reading, writing, or communication in English, to entering post-secondary education or training, we can help you with the process. No time is better than now. All classes will resume on the 12th of January. There is a class near you.

A new Adult Foundations/GED Prep class is opening on Timberlake Rd. 
Pre-registration is January 7th-9th at TUMC, classes begin January 20th.

Spreading the Word

 The "Virginia Preschool Initiative Program helps to provide support for children's families, enabling them to provide for the children's needs at home." Sue Pratt (Bedford Local Coordinator)  participated as a community resource exhibitor on Jan.31, 21014 at Bedford Elementary School. One hundred and forty four parents were enrolled in the evenings' class. She was introduced during the opening welcome and had the opportunity to speak directly to interested people during their dinner breakout session.
