ACE Scholarships for 2015-16

ACE Scholarships

Since its regionalization in 2007, Adult and Career Education of Central Virginia (ACE) has sought to meet the various needs of adults in the community. The vision of ACE is to ensure that every central Virginian is prepared with the knowledge, skills, and credentials necessary to excel in the 21st century. ACE is committed to helping adults develop skills for college and career readiness, and empowering them to be literate, productive, and successful.

We understand that adult students at times face more challenges, with the distractions of life in general, as they aspire to go back to school. As a result, ACE has worked toward removing what barriers students may face as they strive to obtain a high school equivalency to further their education and training. However, what we have found is that students also needed support, from family members, teachers, peers/classmates, the workplace, and members of the community to share in the success.

One of the ways for ACE to continue its support and to promote students in achieving their goals of obtaining a degree, a career of their dreams or a higher quality of life is to help make those goals accessible. ACE works diligently to prepare students for college or career readiness. We understand that obtaining a GED credential only serves as a spring board to the many possibilities. We hope to support our current and past students who endeavor to change the course of their own history and rise to the possibilities. It is with great pleasure to announce that ACE is offering two $1,000 scholarships for the 2017-18 fiscal year.

These two scholarships are designated for students who plan to enroll full-time (minimum 12 credit hours per semester) at an accredited college, career, or technical school in Virginia. Scholarships are last dollar in order to fill the gap after all other sources of funding have been exhausted. The $1,000 scholarship awards will be distributed over the course of 1 year, depending on the student’s program of study. Scholarships can only be used for school-related expenses such as tuition, room & board, fees, books, or training materials (safety gear, equipment, and required tools for trade) and will be paid directly to the institution the student attends. Recipients are not eligible for scholarship renewal for the following year; it is a one-time gift.
